It is well-noted that Catalan giants Barcelona and Spanish super club Real Madrid go toe-to-toe almost every season for La Liga title, and have generally shared the spoils of the Spanish league between themselves for a long time.

This season however there is little contest between the two fierce rivals, with Barcelona having amassed a 19-point lead over their eternal opponents Real, who currently sit fourth in the table.

The two sides are set to do battle in the summer transfer window however, and it is expected to be a closer fight than this year’s league. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are keen on bringing in Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, according to the Express.

The Egyptian has taken the Premier League by storm this season, registering a ludicrous 22 goals and six assists in 25 appearances. It is little surprise that Salah has attracted interest from Spain, and he sits just one goal behind Harry Kane in the Golden Boot standings.

Barcelona have already acquired one of Liverpool’s star players this season, bringing Philippe Coutinho to the Nou Camp in January. Whether the Reds will let another of their key men depart remains to be seen, though they will face a tough battle to keep hold of Salah.
