Arda Turan Wants to Return to Atletico Madrid

Arda Turan has said that he would like to return to Atletico Madrid, his previous team before he departed for Barcelona, states a report from Marca.

Turan has had a difficult year so far as he ended the year only making 30 appearances for Barca and then he had that incident in which he strangled a Turkish journalist after a national team game on a plane, which prompted his departure from the Turkish national team.

The 30-year-old Turk wants to return to the club where he spent four years and found his stroke of brilliance, scoring 22 goals in 178 appearances for the rojiblancos.

After his stellar performance at attacking midfield for Atletico, Turan was transferred to the Catalan club for €35 million in 2015.

But in his tenure at the Camp Nou, Turan has struggled to make steady appearances in a star-laden squad making only 18 appearances in La Liga games each year.

Although Turan has expressed interest in rejoining his old squad, Atletico does not seem keen to on him as manager Diego Simeone does not see a way how he can fit into the squad.

However, Galatasaray — Turan’s first ever club — has expressed interest in his return and various outlets have reported that Chinese clubs are also at the ready with a hefty transfer fee to lure him to the Chinese Super League.
