After various reports that Liverpool are adamant that they will not sell star midfielder Philippe Coutinho, Sky Sports has reported that the Brazilian has handed in his transfer request to makes his move to Barcelona.
The Catalan club has repeatedly made hefty bids for the 25-year-old, with the latest bid being reported at £90.5 million. Supposedly, Barcelona is willing to bid as high as £110 million to lure Coutinho to the Camp Nou.
So far, the Reds have rejected all bids by Barca and the club has released a statement on Friday morning stating that “no offers would be considered” for Coutinho.
It is no wonder that Liverpool want “The Little Magician” to remain with the club as has really flourished at Merseyside.
Since arriving at Anfield from Brazilian side Internazionale Milan for £8.5 million, Coutinho has been nothing short of stellar scoring over 40 goals in 182 appearances for the Reds.
The club then rewarded his efforts and Coutinho signed a new five-year deal in January.
But now with the allure of a bigger club and a chance to play with one of the best players in recent history in Lionel Messi, Liverpool will try desperately to hold on to their bright young talent.
However, it may be just a matter of time before Coutinho makes his escape from Anfield.
