Uruguay international Guillermo Varela is currently taking part in his nation’s 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign in Russia but cannot escape transfer rumours which saw him being linked with La Liga champions Barcelona.
The 25-year-old Penarol right-back is said to be of interest for the Catalan giants who are looking to bolster their options at the back.
“I’ve read it but I haven’t asked Luis Suarez, no-one has confirmed anything to me.”, he said. “Obviously yes, it would be a dream to play for Barcelona and even more so with Suarez, it would be very nice. But I don’t want to think about that, I only want to think about Uruguay.”
Varela made 12 Primera Division appearances for Penarol in 2018 while he played full 90 minutes in his team’s 1-0 World Cup win over Egypt.
