Galatasaray Pushing To Acquire Arda Turan On Loan

Most of the news surrounding FC Barcelona in recent days have been linked with Neymar’s potential departure, or the fact that players such as Paulo Dybala or Philippe Coutinho could replace him.

However, one of the team’s most productive players in the club last season could be set to leave the club on a season-long deal, as Galatasaray are making everything in their power to secure the services of Arda Turan ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

A report from local newspaper Hürriyet that was later confirmed by MARCA suggested the Turkish giants are keen to bring back their former star, and that the club’s president Dursun Özbek has reportedly offered Turan a €4 million deal as well as the captain role in an effort to convince him.

Turan played for Galatasaray between 2006 and 2011, winning a Turkish Super League, a Turkish Cup, and a Turkish Super Cup title before leaving for Atletico Madrid. He registered 44 goals and 76 assists in 190 matches for the club before joining Los Colchoneros ahead of the 2011-12 season.

The moves makes sense for all parties involved. Galatasaray would get their star player back, Arda would get a substantial increase on his playing time, and Barcelona would clear his wage off the books for at least one year, especially considering Ernesto Valverde already placed him on the transfer list.
